Traditions are customs and beliefs that have been passed from one generation to the next, to the next, to the next. They have been happening for years. Some traditions are consistent, others are outdated. Here are some old and new traditions you can do with your father on your big day.

Ask Him To Be Apart Of The Wedding Party

Ask your dad, step-dad, or your father-in-law to be a part of your wedding party. They could be a bridesmaid, groomsmen or the ring bearer. This is a wonderful way for them to be included in the more delicate moments of the day.

Pick A Suit With Him

Spend time with your dad picking out his suit, accessories like shoes or a tie, and maybe a lunch together. He will most certainly appreciate the quality time together

A Moment Alone Before The Ceremony

Before you walk down the aisle and start a new chapter of your life, spend a few minutes with your father. An idea is to arrive with your father. This gives you some time to spend a special moment with just him.

Dance With Your Father

A classic tradition. Whether it is your biological father, step-father, father-in-law, or a father figure, they will love this moment. You can choose a song that has a special meaning to you. Don't be afraid to mix it up. It doesn't have to be slow, it could be his favourite ACDC song that he used to blast out loud when picking you up from school. Have fun with it!

Special Boutonniere

Another sweet but subtle way to make him feel special is to make a unique boutonniere for him. Use your favourite flower just for him or attach a photo of the two of you to the boutonniere. This will be a lovely keepsake.

Add His Favourites

What is his favourite colour? Or his favourite dessert? Does he have a hobby? Try and find a way to incorporate this into your wedding day. Make his favourite colour a part of your wedding scheme, or add his favourite dessert to the menu. If his favourite hobby is gardening, add some seeds as part of your thank you gift. There are so many ways to add his favourites to a small part of your day.

A Special Present

One last thing you could do is write him a meaningful letter. Express how you feel, how much it means to you to have him there, and how much you love him. It may sound silly, but I can promise it will be the best present he has ever received.

Yes, a wedding is supposed to be your special day but making doing one or a few of these things will make your dad feel important and appreciated.
