10 Easy Ways to Help Cut Wedding Costs

At the end of the day, a wedding is pricey, from the dress, the flowers, catering, DJ, and the list goes on. A compromise here or there can help knock off a couple of hundred dollars without taking away the elegance that you want. Here are a few tips to help save you money on your wedding day.

  • Consider your day

A Saturday is the most popular day to get married and venues hike up their prices for that reason. It may be a good option to get married during the week.

  • Think about the season

Choose flowers and foods that are in season. Options will be abundant at lower prices. Keep the words seasonal and local in mind when planning this part of your wedding.

  • Use your photographer wisely

Book your photographer for a couple of hours instead of the whole day. They will still be able to capture all the incredible moments during their time.

  • Repurpose your ceremony flowers

Use your bridesmaid's bouquets as the centerpieces of the table, or to decorate other areas at the reception.

  • Ditch the boutonniers

There is no need to spend $$$ on a tiny floral arrangement that will be chucked away soon after. Rather opt for funky pockets squares that the groom and groomsmen can keep as a memento.

  • Go paperless

Instead of sending out save-the-dates and wedding invitation cards, create an interactive wedding site for the guests. Guests can RSVP, choose a song to dance to, and even check off items that you would like as a gift. You'll also be helping the environment

  • Have an abundant buffet

A buffet will be cheaper than a plated dinner and may also have a lot more options for the guests to choose from.

  • Get creative with your cake

Whether this is having a display cake and serving sheet cake to your guests, or cutting back on cake decor, or even decorating the cake yourself, or doing something completely untraditional. Just make sure your it is yummy!

  • Think drink

There is no need to have an open bar. You can have a welcome cocktail and a bottle of champagne on each table for the toast. That's all you need to do.

  • Embrace minimalistic options

Keep the bouquets simple. Top your tables with a decorative runner instead of fancy linen. Use candles instead of flowers at the tables. This will boost the overall romance.

It is your wedding and it deserves to be special as you want it to be but it doesn't always need to cost and an arm and a leg. Happy planning!
